Experience My India's 7 to 8-day Golden Triangle adds one extension to the Delhi, Agra and Jaipur circuit, from Rs 70,000 per person (4 star, twin sharing): either Ranthambore for a tiger safari or Udaipur for its lakes and palaces. Six days already covers the three cities completely, so the honest question at this length is not 'how much more of the circuit' but 'which one thing do I add and why.' This page answers that: what each extension actually gives you, why we recommend one and not two, and the routing and cost realities most operators skip.

The core circuit is about 720 km, and by the sixth day you have seen it all. A seventh and eighth day are worth adding only for something the three cities cannot give you: the unscripted jungle drive of Ranthambore, or the slow, romantic wind-down of Udaipur's lakes. The honest information gain here is the decision itself, which extension suits which traveller, why stacking two turns a focused trip into a marathon, and where the real costs sit, so you add the right day rather than just more days. Below is the honest guide.

Both add a day or two; they add very different things:

• Add Ranthambore if you want something wild and unscripted. After days of forts and palaces, a jungle safari breaks the pattern completely: a real drive through dry forest and fort ruins with trackers reading pug marks and alarm calls. Sightings are never promised (no operator can), but most travellers say the drive is worth it even without a tiger. It sits about 3.5 to 4 hours from Jaipur and slots neatly between Agra and Jaipur as a Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore, Jaipur loop with two safaris. • Add Udaipur if you want the trip to end gently. The City of Lakes is the most romantic stop in Rajasthan, all palace reflections and boat rides, and it winds the trip down rather than ramping it up. It is about 6 hours from Jaipur or a short flight, and works best as the final leg before flying home. See our trip extensions for more.

• One, not two. Ranthambore plus Udaipur is possible, but it pushes the trip toward nine or ten days and, by then, most travellers, especially families, want a slower pace, not another dawn start. If you genuinely want both, that is a 9 to 10-day Rajasthan trip and we will build it as one honestly, not cram it into eight.

• Where the money sits: Ranthambore's cost is mostly fixed safari permits and park fees, the same regardless of hotel tier. Udaipur is where price swings hardest, since a lake-view palace room and a standard room are very different budgets.

Days 1 to 2 (Delhi) Arrive, settle, and a full Delhi day across both halves (Old and New Delhi), paced for jet-lagged arrivals. Overnights Delhi.

Day 3 (Delhi to Agra) Drive or Gatimaan train to Agra, Agra Fort, the Baby Taj and a Mehtab Bagh sunset. Overnight Agra.

Day 4 (Agra to Ranthambore) Taj Mahal at sunrise, then transfer to Ranthambore via Fatehpur Sikri and the Chand Baori stepwell. Afternoon settle in. Overnight Ranthambore.

Day 5 (Ranthambore) Morning and afternoon safaris with a park naturalist (jeep or Canter), then time to rest. Overnight Ranthambore. Sightings are never promised; two safaris are the honest standard.

Day 6 (Ranthambore to Jaipur) Transfer to Jaipur (about 3.5 to 4 hours). Afternoon Amber Fort by jeep, never the elephant ride, on welfare grounds. Overnight Jaipur.

Day 7 (Jaipur) City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal and a Nahargarh sunset, with bazaar time. Overnight Jaipur.

Day 8 (Jaipur to Delhi) Drive back to Delhi (about 5 hours) for departure, or fly out of Jaipur.

The Udaipur version replaces the Ranthambore nights with Udaipur at the end (via road or a short flight), finishing with a Lake Pichola boat ride before flying home. Every version carries its full day-by-day plan on request, and lists what is included and what is not with equal weight.

Per person, twin sharing, with a 20 percent service margin and 5 percent GST already inside the number. The extension adds nights and, for Ranthambore, fixed park and safari fees, so this length starts higher than the six-day circuit.

The foreign-national gap (about Rs 2,665) is only the higher monument fees. Ranthambore safari permits and park fees are itemised at cost, the same regardless of hotel tier; a Udaipur flight, if chosen, is itemised too. OCI cardholders pay Indian rates with the physical card; under-15s enter the Taj free; children under 5 travel free, 5 to 11 at half. Solo travellers add the single supplement.
