Golden Triangle by Train and Car | Experience My India
The smart hybrid: Gatimaan train Delhi to Agra, private car Agra to Jaipur so you keep Fatehpur Sikri and Chand Baori. From Rs 40,000 pp. WhatsApp us.
In a Nutshell
“Experience My India's train-and-car Golden Triangle uses the fast Gatimaan or Vande Bharat train for the Delhi to Agra leg and a private car for the rest, from Rs 40,000 per person (4 star, twin sharing). This is the honest best way to travel the circuit, and most 'Golden Triangle by train' pages will not tell you why: the Agra to Jaipur leg is far better by car, because by rail you skip Fatehpur Sikri and the Chand Baori stepwell, two of the circuit's best stops.”

Why choose Experience My India for the train-and-car trip
Honest note
The train-and-car hybrid is NOT for you if
- You want the whole trip by rail. By all-train you lose Fatehpur Sikri and Chand Baori; if that is a dealbreaker, we will say so, and the hybrid exists precisely to avoid it.
- You want maximum door-to-door flexibility. A private car throughout is more flexible; the hybrid trades a little flexibility for the train's speed and comfort on the Delhi-Agra leg.
- Your dates fall on a train off-day. The Gatimaan has a weekly off-day; we plan around it, sometimes driving that leg instead.
- You want the luxury-train experience. That is a different product entirely; see our luxury cluster for the Maharajas' Express and Palace on Wheels.
- You want the elephant ride at Amber. We do not offer it, on welfare grounds.
Preparation
Before you go
🎒Packing List
- 1.Stay near Hazrat Nizamuddin the night before the Agra train; the Gatimaan departs early, around 8:10 AM.
- 2.Let us book the trains early; premium services sell out, and last-minute Tatkal tickets are premium-priced and hard for foreign travellers to book.
- 3.December fog can delay early trains; we build slack in and keep a car backup for the Delhi-Agra leg where it matters.
- 4.Pack light for the train legs; you handle your own bag on and off, and our staff assist at the platform.
- 5.Cancellation follows our house slabs: 80 percent refunded more than 30 days out, 50 percent at 7 to 30 days, none under 7 days. Train tickets, once issued, follow railway refund rules, which can be stricter; disclosed in your quote.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Can you do the Golden Triangle by train?
Partly, and the smart way is a train-and-car hybrid, not all-train. The Delhi to Agra leg is excellent by train (Gatimaan or Vande Bharat, about 1 hour 40 minutes), but the Agra to Jaipur leg is far better by private car, because by rail you skip Fatehpur Sikri and the Chand Baori stepwell. Jaipur to Delhi works well by train or car.
