Lodhi Garden

Lodhi Garden is the classic Delhi date: ninety acres of lawns, flowering trees and centuries-old domed tombs, threaded with quiet paths made for wandering hand in hand. Come in the late afternoon, find a bench under a tree or by one of the monuments and watch the light soften. It is free, central and endlessly romantic and a favourite of couples for good reason.

Sunder Nursery

A few things make these outings work. Go on weekday evenings where you can, when the gardens and parks are calmest and coolest; most gardens close around sunset, so time your visit. Choose the relaxed, couple-friendly spots, the ticketed gardens, cafes and heritage parks tend to be quieter and more comfortable than the busiest free parks. Travel between October and March for the pleasant weather, carry water and for the getaways beyond the city you will want a car and, for Neemrana, a booking in advance.
