In a Nutshell

See Jaipur glow for Diwali (29 Oct 2027) on the Delhi-Agra-Jaipur circuit. Honest on the post-Diwali smog.

Golden Triangle Tour with Diwali: Lights, Lamps, and an Honest Word on the Smog

Experience My India runs the Delhi, Agra and Jaipur circuit timed for Diwali, from Rs 45,000 per person, so you see the Taj at sunrise and Jaipur's forts, then witness the Pink City glow with millions of lamps and lights on Diwali night. Diwali in 2027 falls on Friday, 29 October, the main Lakshmi Puja night, within the five-day sequence from Dhanteras (27 October) to Bhai Dooj (31 October). This page celebrates one of the world's great festivals honestly, which means telling you the thing sales pages leave out: the days right after Diwali bring heavy smog to Delhi and the region, and we plan around it rather than pretend it is not there. Diwali is India at its most luminous. Jaipur in particular goes all out, with the walled city, Johari Bazaar and the palaces lit up and lighting competitions across the markets. Celebrating it on the Golden Triangle pairs that with the Taj and the forts. The information gain on this page is the honest air-quality guidance, why the post-Diwali smog happens and how we time and route the trip to protect your health and your photos, alongside the respectful, home-celebration way to experience Diwali as a living festival rather than only a fireworks show. Below is the Diwali trip done straight.

When Diwali Falls, And Why The Date Moves

Diwali follows the Hindu lunar calendar and lands on the new-moon night of Kartik, so it rotates between mid-October and mid-November; in 2027 the main Lakshmi Puja night is Friday, 29 October. The festival is a five-day sequence: Dhanteras (27 October), Narak Chaturdashi or Choti Diwali (28 October), Diwali (29 October), Govardhan Puja (30 October) and Bhai Dooj (31 October). We time the trip so your Jaipur days fall on the main Diwali night. Because the three days before Diwali see cities gridlocked with Dhanteras shopping, and hotels fill months out, this is a trip to book well ahead.

Important — Read This

This is the section sales pages skip, and it matters for your health and your trip. In the days immediately after Diwali, Delhi and the wider region often suffer dangerous air pollution. It is not only the firecrackers: it is firecrackers plus regional crop-burning plus vehicle and construction dust, all trapped because the Golden Triangle sits in a land-locked valley where cool-season air holds the smog in place. The haze can be genuinely unhealthy, and it also washes out the sky in photos and can shroud the Taj. Here is how we handle it honestly: We time the trip to favour the days up to and including Diwali rather than the smoggiest days right after, where your dates allow. We tell you plainly that if you are sensitive to air quality (asthma, respiratory conditions, travelling with young children or older relatives), the post-Diwali window is a real consideration, and we will discuss timing frankly. We plan Taj viewing for the clearest window and manage expectations; October to November mornings can carry haze, so an afternoon Taj visit sometimes gives better visibility. We do not pretend the smog is not there. An honest operator plans around it; we would rather you know and choose than be surprised. This honesty is the information gain. Diwali is worth it, and it is better experienced with eyes open.

How You Celebrate Diwali With Us

Jaipur lit for Diwali: the walled city, Johari Bazaar, MI Road and the palaces glowing with lamps and lights, with the markets in full festive swing; Nahargarh Fort gives a night view over the illuminated city. An optional home or heritage Diwali celebration: a Lakshmi Puja with a host family or at a heritage property, with rangoli, diyas, Rajasthani folk music and dance, sweets and a festive dinner — the warm, respectful way to experience Diwali as families actually live it. Diwali shopping and food: Dhanteras and Diwali markets, festive sweets like ghewar and kaju katli, and diya and decoration shopping. The full Golden Triangle around it: the Taj at sunrise (visibility permitting), Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri and Jaipur's forts and palaces.

  • You want the elephant ride at Amber. We do not offer it, on welfare grounds.
  • You cannot book ahead. Diwali week sells out months in advance.
