A living-heritage Golden Triangle: stay in family havelis and villages, share home-cooked meals and meet real hosts, respectfully and by genuine welcome.

In a Nutshell

Family havelis and village homes, home-cooked meals and old-city lanes, the Golden Triangle experienced through its people.

Living-Heritage & Local-Life Immersion

Experience My India's living-heritage tour is about the India that is alive today, not behind a monument rope: staying with families in heritage havelis and village homes, sharing home-cooked meals cooked from generational recipes, walking the old quarters where craftspeople live and work, and, where the timing is right, joining a local festival. It runs 6 to 9 days, private, from Rs 10,000 per person per day. Above all, it is done the honest way: with real hosts who genuinely welcome you and are fairly paid, as guests and friends, never as a "human safari" or a staged performance. For travellers who want connection over checklists, this is the most human way to see the circuit.

Why A Living-Heritage Tour

The Golden Triangle's monuments are magnificent, but they are the past. This tour adds the living present: the family who hosts you in their centuries-old haveli, the grandmother's recipe at dinner, the artisan you meet in an old-city lane, the festival procession passing your rooftop. Staying with families, rather than in anonymous hotels, gives you a window into real Indian life, its warmth, rhythms and stories, that no guidebook or monument can. Hosts become "a fountain of knowledge," and you leave, as the Rajasthani saying goes, "as a friend, not a guest." It is the difference between seeing India and meeting India.

Why it stands out

What You'll Experience

01

Heritage haveli stays

Restored traditional mansions, family-run, full of character (carved wood, courtyards, painted walls), where you are welcomed like family and eat home-cooked meals. Comfortable and atmospheric, in Jaipur's old city, Delhi and beyond.

02

Rural village homestays (optional, deeper)

Time with a family in a village or restored village fort, simpler and more immersive, sharing daily life, farm and community, and genuine rural hospitality. A profound counterpoint to the cities.

03

Old-quarter walks

Guided walks through Old Delhi and Jaipur's old city, where master tradespeople still live and work, meeting people, seeing the morning markets and daily rhythms up close.

04

Cooking and craft with the family

Learn a regional dish in a home kitchen, or a craft with the household, hands-on, unhurried and personal.

05

Festivals and daily life (seasonal)

If your dates align, join a local celebration (Teej or Gangaur processions in Jaipur, for example), a temple ritual or a village gathering, with your hosts.

The Honest Bit: Real Hosts, Real Comfort, Real Respect

This is where honesty matters most, so we are direct. First, this is genuine and consenting, never a spectacle. We work only with hosts who truly want to welcome guests and who are fairly paid for it; we do not do "poverty tourism," staged "authentic village" performances, or intrusive visits that treat people as an exhibit. You come as a respectful guest into someone's real home and life. Second, homestays are characterful, not luxury hotels. They are clean and comfortable but idiosyncratic, some hosts speak limited English, rural stays are simpler still, and that lived-in, slightly rough-around-the-edges quality is the whole point; if you want polished five-star uniformity, this is not the tour. Third, respect is the price of admission: dress modestly, ask before photographing anyone, keep your voice down near temples, and never waste food or water, which are precious. We brief you, and we vet our hosts honestly (quality does vary, so we choose carefully).

Pricing, Plainly

This is the circuit built around homestays and havelis rather than standard hotels, from Rs 10,000 per person per day, twin sharing, with 20 percent margin and 5 percent GST included; adding rural village days is at the same per-day rate. Heritage havelis and homestays vary from simple-and-characterful to boutique-comfortable, which is the main variable, and a fair share of what you pay goes directly to the host families and their communities. We build a precise quote to your chosen stays, days and depth of immersion. GST applies as per the invoice.

Our promise

Why Choose Experience My India

1
Real, consenting hosts. We work only with families who genuinely welcome guests and are fairly paid, respectful immersion, never a human safari.
2
Connection, not a checklist. Home-cooked meals, real conversations and living culture, the India you cannot see from a tour bus.
3
Honest about comfort. We tell you homestays are characterful, not luxury, so you arrive with the right expectations and love them for what they are.
4
Two levels of depth. Comfortable heritage havelis, or simpler rural village stays, or both, matched to how deep you want to go.
5
A published cancellation policy with real numbers, the 80/50/0 slabs on the Cancellation & Refund Policy page, and a human on WhatsApp, not a call centre.

Honest note

This Trip Is NOT For You If

  • You want consistent five-star comfort. Homestays and havelis are characterful and lived-in, not polished luxury; for that, choose our Luxury Golden Triangle.
  • You want privacy and anonymity. The whole point is human connection; if you would rather not engage with hosts, a hotel-based tour suits you better.
  • You are uncomfortable adapting to others' homes and customs. You are a guest in real homes; flexibility and respect are essential.
  • You expect villages to be a photo backdrop. These are people's actual lives; we ask you to engage respectfully, not to treat them as a spectacle.
