Attend a real Indian wedding, by genuine invitation and with full consent, never as a paying spectator. Honest etiquette prep, or a cultural alternative.

In a Nutshell

Attend a real Indian wedding, by genuine invitation and with full consent, never as a paying spectator.

Attend an Indian Wedding Experience

An Indian wedding is one of the most joyful, colourful celebrations on earth — days of music, dancing, feasting, ritual and extraordinary hospitality. Experience My India can help you experience one, but only the honest way: as a genuinely invited, welcome guest of a family who truly wants to share their celebration, never as a paying spectator crashing a stranger's private moment. That means real consent, real lead time, and a respectful contribution to the family, and it means we cannot promise a wedding on your exact dates. If a genuine invitation aligns with your trip, it is unforgettable; if not, we offer an honest cultural alternative rather than fake it. This page explains exactly how it works, and why we do it this way.

How This Works, Honestly

Let us be completely clear, because this topic deserves it. A real Indian wedding is a private family celebration, not a show. So we do this one way only: through a genuine invitation from a family who wants to welcome a respectful outsider into their joy, arranged with their full knowledge and consent, and with a proper contribution from you toward the celebration they are hosting. You connect with the couple or family beforehand, so everyone is comfortable on the day. In return you are treated as an honoured guest, taught the dances, dressed in the finery, fed like royalty and included in the rituals — 'a local for a day,' in the loveliest sense. What we will never do is treat someone's wedding as a tourist attraction to be gate-crashed or bought like a ticket to a spectacle. That is the whole difference.

What You'll Experience (If An Invitation Aligns)

  • A multi-day celebration. Indian weddings unfold over several days — mehndi (henna), sangeet (music and dance), haldi (turmeric), the ceremony and the reception — each with its own colour and meaning.

  • Genuine hospitality. Families treat every guest as honoured; you will be fed, welcomed, taught the steps and drawn into the celebration with remarkable warmth.

  • Real ritual and emotion. These are genuine ceremonies — real vows, real families, real tears and laughter — not a performance staged for visitors.

  • Full preparation. We brief you thoroughly beforehand: what to wear (we can help arrange traditional attire), what gift to bring (a cash shagun is customary), how to behave during rituals, and what to expect.

Our Promise

Three honest things, and they matter more than the sales pitch. First, consent and respect are absolute. We only ever arrange this with a family's genuine, informed welcome, and you attend as a supportive guest who contributes to the celebration, not as someone buying access to a private moment. Second, we cannot guarantee a wedding on your dates. Weddings are not scheduled around tourism, so this depends entirely on a willing family whose celebration happens to align with your trip; anyone who 'guarantees' a specific wedding date, or sells 'exclusive access', is a red flag, and we will not pretend otherwise. Ask us as many months ahead as you can. Third, we know the criticism. Some see wedding tourism as commodifying or fetishising a sacred family occasion, and that concern is fair, which is exactly why we insist on genuine consent, real relationships and honest contribution, and why, if no authentic invitation aligns, we will offer you a cultural alternative rather than manufacture something false.

If No Genuine Wedding Aligns: The Honest Alternative

If your dates do not coincide with a real, consenting family's celebration, we will tell you so, plainly, and offer instead an honest cultural experience: a hosted evening of wedding traditions, music and cuisine with a family or cultural group who genuinely offer it, or a folk-performance and cuisine experience clearly presented as a cultural showcase, not passed off as a real wedding. You will always know exactly what you are attending. We would rather give you something true and beautiful than something staged and dishonest.

An honest alternative if needed. If no real invitation aligns, we offer a clearly-labelled cultural experience.
4
Thorough, respectful preparation. Attire, etiquette, gifts and rituals fully briefed.
5
A published cancellation policy with real numbers — the 80/50/0 slabs — and a human on WhatsApp.

Honest note

This Experience Is NOT For You If

  • You want a guaranteed wedding on fixed dates. That is not possible ethically.
  • You see it as entertainment or a photo-op. These are real families' sacred celebrations.
  • You are uncomfortable contributing to the host family. The respectful contribution is central.
  • You cannot plan ahead. Genuine invitations need months of lead time and relationship-building.
