Sacred Delhi Golden Triangle | Experience My India
Honest: women cannot enter Nizamuddin's inner sanctum, and Thursday is the most crowded night, not the best one. Delhi's living faith. From Rs 60,000 pp.

Our promise
Why choose Experience My India for the sacred Delhi trip
Honest note
This trip is NOT for you if
- You want guaranteed access everywhere. At working shrines, the institution sets the rules, they change, and we do not overrule them. Nizamuddin's inner sanctum is the clearest example.
- You want a spiritual performance. These are not shows. The qawwali is worship that you are permitted to sit inside, and the langar is a meal, not an activity.
- You want to photograph freely. Cameras are restricted in sanctums, and consent governs everything else.
- You will not cover your head or remove your shoes. Then this trip does not work, and we would rather say so now.
- You want the elephant ride at Amber. We do not offer it, on welfare grounds. The jeep does the climb.
Preparation
Before you go
🎒Packing List
- 1.Pack a large scarf. It is the most-used item on this trip, for any gender.
- 2.Wear shoes you can take off fifteen times without sitting down.
- 3.Tell us if any of your party are women who particularly want the dargah, so we can set expectations properly and plan the courtyard evening rather than the chamber.
- 4.Ask about festival dates. They transform these places, and not always in the direction you want.
- 5.Bring small notes, and no expectations about being asked for them.
- 6.Cancellation follows our house slabs: 80 percent refunded more than 30 days out, 50 percent at 7 to 30 days, none under 7 days.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Can women enter Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah?
Women can enter the dargah complex, the courtyard and the langar, but are traditionally not permitted into the inner sanctum where Nizamuddin Auliya is buried. Women go as far as the outer verandah and view the chamber through the jali, the carved lattice screen, where devotees tie threads as a reminder of their wishes to the saint. Importantly, the qawwali takes place in the open courtyard and is open to everyone, so the music most visitors come for is not restricted.
