Experience My India's village-homestay Golden Triangle pairs the Taj, the forts and the palaces with something most visitors never do: real time in a Rajasthani village, staying with or beside a host community, sharing home-cooked meals, walking the lanes, and seeing farm and craft life up close. The point is genuine connection and money that goes straight to local families, on a footing of respect, not pity. It runs about 7 to 10 days, private, from Rs 10,000 per person per day. And we are honest with you: a village stay is warm, welcoming and clean, but it is simple, not luxury, and it is built entirely on the community's dignity and consent. Here is what it really involves.

This is not a staged 'village experience', it is time in a living community, at its own pace. Depending on how rustic you want it, you stay in a family-run village home, a restored village haveli, or a heritage homestead within the village itself, and you spend your days simply: walking the lanes, watching potters and block-printers at work, meeting farmers and children, sharing chai with a family, learning a craft, and eating home-cooked food together, often folk music and a meal under the stars in the evening. The welcome is genuine (Rajasthan's 'atithi devo bhava', guest is god), and, refreshingly, the village goes about its life around you rather than performing for you. It is the richer, quieter side of India that the standard circuit never reaches.

Samode, the easy on-route choice. About 42 km from Jaipur, en route to Shekhawati: beyond the famous palace lie small hamlets of block-printers, handloom weavers and farmers, village lanes, wells and fields, a perfect rural immersion without leaving the circuit's orbit. Chandelao, for a deeper stay (Rajasthan extension). A pioneer of community-based tourism near Jodhpur, an ancestral homestead run as a homestay that funds a women's craft collective (Sunder Rang) and has reinvested in the village's toilets, education and jobs, warm, meaningful, and further from the core circuit, so ideal as an extension. Bishnoi and other hamlets, for the most rustic, mud-hut immersion with the conservation-minded Bishnoi community, on a wider Rajasthan route.

Three honest things, because they are the whole ethic of this trip. First, this is respect, not pity. Rural India is proud, hard-working and welcoming, not a spectacle of poverty to gawp at; you come as a guest and an equal, curious and courteous, and that is exactly how it is received. Second, the comfort is simple, and we will not pretend otherwise. Village stays are clean, cared-for and characterful, but expect basic rooms, home-cooked food, no televisions, patchy WiFi, and a town pharmacy that may be some distance away, if you want five-star polish, a village homestay is the wrong choice, and we will tell you so. Third, consent and dignity come first. We work with communities that genuinely welcome guests and are fairly paid, we always ask before you photograph anyone, and we build the visit around their comfort as much as yours. Done this way, a village stay is a real human exchange, and money that reaches the people who host you.
