The Guru himself fell ill while serving the sick and passed away soon after, at a very young age, an act of compassion that is remembered with deep reverence. After his passing, the site was made into a gurudwara in his memory by the Sikh general Baba Baghel Singh in the 18th century, and it has been a place of faith, healing and service ever since. • On foot: if you are already at Connaught Place or Jantar Mantar, the gurudwara is within walking distance.

When is the best time to visit?

The best season is October to March, when Delhi's weather is pleasant for a visit and for spending time by the sarovar.
