Morning: Amber Fort and around

Start early, by about 8:00 AM, at Amber Fort, the magnificent hilltop palace that is the highlight of Jaipur. Arriving early beats both the heat and the crowds, and gives you time to explore the grand courtyards, the mirrored Sheesh Mahal and the sweeping views. Allow around two hours.

•  Jal Mahal: on the way to or from Amber, stop for a photo of the romantic water palace sitting in Man Sagar Lake.
