• It is a long single-day drive, so start early, share the driving if you can, and plan a proper meal break around the halfway mark.

How do you reach Agra from Varanasi by train?

Direct overnight trains connect Varanasi and Agra, arriving at Agra Cantt or Agra Fort station, and for many travellers the train is the most comfortable way to cover this long distance. You sleep through the journey and arrive fresh for a full day at the Taj.

• Stations in Agra: Agra Cantt is the main station and the most convenient for the Taj and hotels, while Agra Fort station is closer to the old city.

• Best for: travellers who prefer to avoid a 9 to 10 hour drive and would rather rest overnight.

• Booking: reserve well ahead in the tourist season, since sleeper and AC classes fill fast on this corridor.

How do you reach Agra from Varanasi by flight?
